Aviary Equipment Maintenance Technician
This position is an Aviary Equipment Maintenance Technician at a cage free layer egg production farm in rural Marathon, Iowa. Primary responsibilities include all installation, maintenance and repair on specialized egg collection, egg packing, aviary feed system, LED lighting, ventilation and manure removal equipment. 35%Perform preventative maintenance on equipmentPerform general maintenance tasks to include adding and testing lubricants, changing bearings, rebuilding electric motors, replacing fan belts, and pulleysPerform review of tunnel ventilation confirming no restrictions on tunnel airflow, eliminate air leaks, monitor and maintain wind- speed and static pressure30%Check for signs of wear and frequent review of safety-critical parts of work equipmentTroubleshoot electrical equipment and computer control devicesTroubleshoot cage free aviary equipment, and egg collection systemsCalibrate, monitor and clean watering equipment to ensure proper medication levelsInstall new parts and systems, fabricate parts and weld where needed such as conveyor belts Maintain and service cooler in egg room15%Clear manure from system10%Perform plumbing and electrical wiring repairs on equipment and machineryInspect and protect electrical cords with industrial strength casings and purpose built rampsInstall new equipment and parts10%Perform bio-security plan Keep equipment, machinery, and ventilation clean Maintain a clean environment, inspect and clean fan shutters, blades and guards, inspect and clean tools, and store tools with careInspect and maintain rodent control, fly control, ammonia level controlConfirm foot baths and coverings are set up and used properlyKnowledge of safety programs, electrical and electronics including frequency drives and inverters, generators, computers, and PM software helpful.
